Witches' Flying Ointment Recipe
Here are some recipes you'll be sure to love. They are taken from Gerina Dunwich's "Wicca Craft".

The notorious "Witches' Flying Ointment," a dangerous herbal concoction producing psychedelic effects, was said to be used by Witches in the Middle Ages. It consisted mainly of parsley, hemlock, water of aconite, poplar leaves, soot, bat's blood, deadly nightshade (or belladonna), henbane, and hashish.

In a large cauldron over a fire, these ingredients would be mixed together with the melted fat of an unbaptized infant, and then rubbed on various parts of the Witch's body to enable her or him to "fly" off to the Sabbat. Of course Witches didn't literally fly; however, the ointment did induce incredible hallucinations, psychic visions, and astral projections.

The following is a modern Witch's flying ointment recipe.

1/4 cup lard
1/2 teaspoon clove oil
1 teaspoon chimney soot
1/4 teaspoon dried cinquefoil
1/4 teaspoon dried mugwort
1/4 teaspoon dried thistle
1/4 teaspoon dried vervain
1/2 teaspoon tincture of benzoin

Using a mortal and pestle, crush the dried herbs until almost powdered. In a small cauldron heat the lard over a very low flame until melted completely. Add the herbs, clove oil, and chimney soot to the lard base and mix well. Add the benzoin as a natural preservative, stir it all together clockwise, and then simmer for 10-15 minutes. Strain it through a cheesecloth into a small heat-resistant container, and then allow it to cool. Store it in your refrigerator or in a cool dark place until it is ready to be used.

On a night of a full moon, anoint your temples and "Third Eye" with a small amount of the flying ointment prior to astral projection or dream magick.

INVOKING THE GODDESS

RITE OF HECTATE
Gypsy-Witch Love Potion
1 teaspoon dried and crushed basil
1 teaspoon dried fennel
1 teaspoon dried European vervain
3 pinches ground nutmeg
1/4 cup red wine

Place all the ingredients into a cauldron. Mix together well, and then place the cauldron over a fire. Light a pink candle which has been anointed with rose oil, and say:

CANDLE LIGHT, WARM AND BRIGHT,
IGNITE THE FLAMES OF LOVE TONIGHT.
LET MY SOUL MATE'S LOVE BURN STRONG FOR ME,
THIS IS MY WILL, SO MOTE IT BE!

After the love potion boils for 3 minutes, remove the cauldron from the fire and allow it to cool. Strain the cooled liquid through a clean cheesecloth into a cup. Add a bit of honey to sweeten the potion, and then drink it.

If you desire love from a certain man or woman, concentrate upon him or her as you prepare the brew. Drink half of the potion, and then give the other half of it to your beloved to drink as soon as possible. If he or she is karmically correct for you, the spark of love will be instantly ignited.

Best prepared on a Friday, any night of the waxing moon, whenever the moon is in the Venus-ruled signs of Taurus or Libra, or on Saint Valentine's Day.
